[ She's started to wander a little further away from Braxiatel by now but she makes sure to remain close enough to hear. ] I'm certain the two of you will see one another sooner or later.

Too small a place to avoid each other. [He chuckles.]

But we were talking about you, Romana. Whatever shall you get up to while you here?

The bookshop is an idea... but, I'm not really certain. I must admit I'm not sure what to make of the fact that I have time to do whatever it is I would like to.

Well, far be it for me to discourage you from setting up competition for the Doctor, but perhaps, if you like, we could go into business together?

I've been considering the situation regarding dissemination of information. Most of it, one either has to look up or ask certain individuals but that information is hard to get at.

I was considering we might set up a community feed. Something that people can find out what's going on lately, connect with their fellow Travellers and the locals, advertise their businesses or community projects.

I was considering radio might be a good medium. That would involve reintroducing radios, but possibly worth it? What do you think?

The idea has merit. And to ensure that information be accessible for all would be ideal. Not to mention bringing the people together would be the preferred result.

[ Tapping her chin in thought, she nodded. ]

It will take some work but the idea is a good one.

I think so. There are several shops that stock possible radio equipment.

Then it is a project worth looking into.

{ She falls silent for a moment then. This plan he had come up with could easily have been discussed over the bracelets. And she was still unsure on what to say otherwise after what she had said yesterday. Yes, Braxiatel appeared to be in better spirits, but still. She knew him to be very good at hiding what he's truly thinking. ]

Brax...

[ There was a pause as she sat down on one of the arms of the nearest chair in the theatre with her hands resting on her lap. ]

Was there a reason you wanted to meet in person like this? [ She was genuinely curious, that was all. ]

[He's honestly a little unprepared for the question. He didn't really have an ulterior motive ready for the telling.] Not especially. Merely wished to meet. Clear the air.

[ She doesn't say anything in response, only nodding her head once, accepting this answer. Perhaps she was being too paranoid for her own good. ]

[He smiles a little.] Would you like to go for some tea, perhaps?

[ She offers him a small smile of her own. ] I think tea sounds like a wonderful idea.

I'm full of them today. [He chuckles, offering her his arm.]

[ Standing up again, she accepted his offered arm. ] Thank you.

Is now a good time to ask what happened since I left?

I'm not entirely sure where to begin. And yes, I know 'at the beginning' is the most obvious place to start, but, there were so many other Gallifreys after you were lost to us. [ Some with more painful memories than others. ]

Well, whatever feels like a good place to start. I shall listen regardless.

[ Romana goes silent for a couple of minutes in order to sort her thoughts. There had been the Gallifrey that was still ruled by the vampires, but it wasn't as important to tell right now. Moving through the memories of the ones that were traveled to, she finally settled on where to begin. ]

There was a Gallifrey that had not yet discovered how to travel through time. Rassilon had died before he could complete the Eye of Harmony, so there was no such thing as a Time Lord.

It was a world that my counterpart ruled fiercely and was, just as I had arrived, assassinated.

Somehow I had managed to convince the others that there had been an assassination attempt so that I could resume my counterpart's role as the Lady President. [ She paused there for a moment before continuing. ] It was an unstable government and those of higher rank and upbringing kept slaves. [ It was there that she frowned. ] It was a Gallifrey so very different from our own.

[Irving's almost impressed.] It's curious how one man seemed to catalyse so much. Particularly how that man's character seemed to evolve.

[Apparently, it took a tyrant to stop the rest of them from becoming it.] And how did you manage? Being president of such a world? I can't imagine they took too well to their slaves being taken off them.

[He didn't even question that that was what she did. Even if she hadn't spent her time in E-Space freeing slaves, keeping them is not in her character.]

Well that part wasn't easy, but then again it never is. [ For now she left out the part of how she and Leela had a falling out. ] And of course they didn't. The complaints against it were numerous and there were those who challenged my position over it, among other things.

But between myself, Narvin, and Leela, we were able to make that Gallifrey a better world. It wasn't home but, it was close.

We even got as far as start developing means of time travel. Not only that, but Narvin and I, at the time we believed to have discovered the first step in developing a cure for the Dogma Virus. However... [ All of that time spent on helping that alternative timeline to progress felt almost wasted. ] It fell apart when the Daleks invaded that world through the Axis.

[He ground to a halt at the mention of Daleks, before restarting himself.] Daleks? On the Axis? [He was chilled by the news.]

They were able to get past K9 and he escaped them before they could harm him. But they had found their way to it and started an attack on all of the other alternative timelines.

It was a small group of them, but it only takes a single Dalek to lay waste to an entire city. When they found us, it was only because they recognized me as... [ Her face twisted for that split second as she all but spat out the name: ] Unit 117 [ Before she regained her composure. ] ... were Narvin, Leela, and I able to survive their initial attack.

[It is an offence that Romana's capture happened at all, let alone the attempts to replace her name with a cold impersonal number. He clenches his fists at the designation and it takes a breath before he regains his own composure.] Good. How were you able to escape?
