Irving Braxiatel. Terribly sorry, but I am far too busy to answer the phone just now, but please do leave a message. Don't reverse the charges. Thank you.
Well that part wasn't easy, but then again it never is. [ For now she left out the part of how she and Leela had a falling out. ] And of course they didn't. The complaints against it were numerous and there were those who challenged my position over it, among other things.
But between myself, Narvin, and Leela, we were able to make that Gallifrey a better world. It wasn't home but, it was close.
We even got as far as start developing means of time travel. Not only that, but Narvin and I, at the time we believed to have discovered the first step in developing a cure for the Dogma Virus. However... [ All of that time spent on helping that alternative timeline to progress felt almost wasted. ] It fell apart when the Daleks invaded that world through the Axis.
They were able to get past K9 and he escaped them before they could harm him. But they had found their way to it and started an attack on all of the other alternative timelines.
It was a small group of them, but it only takes a single Dalek to lay waste to an entire city. When they found us, it was only because they recognized me as... [ Her face twisted for that split second as she all but spat out the name: ] Unit 117 [ Before she regained her composure. ] ... were Narvin, Leela, and I able to survive their initial attack.
[It is an offence that Romana's capture happened at all, let alone the attempts to replace her name with a cold impersonal number. He clenches his fists at the designation and it takes a breath before he regains his own composure.] Good. How were you able to escape?
That is where things get complicated... even more so than normal.
[ Romana went on the explain how they were able to escape back to the Axis and trap the Daleks in that alternative world. Only after she repaid one of them in kind for what they had done to her. It isn't often that someone can make a Dalek beg for mercy. ] And we were able to remove the Dalek that was in control of the Axis as well. There was nothing we could do about the Gallifreys they had conquered.
All we could do was leave the Axis and go into the last timeline that had been spared. We had to close it off behind us. For good.
[He felt proud of her for that, even though it was unworthy. Daleks were hateful creatures - literally - and he didn't feel sorry for it.] They were dead ends. [He's still sort of wistful.]
Not... quite. The Gallifrey we came to was actually within the Matrix, although at the the time we weren't aware that it was the Matrix. [ Like she said, it got very complicated. ] It was there that we found a ruined Gallifrey, one ravaged by war, and a later incarnation of myself found us.
[ Her left brow goes up, questioningly, but she doesn't make any remark otherwise on his question. ] Younger, with darker hair. And rather... affectionate. Prone to hugging above all else.
[He smiles innocently. …Which is hampered by his being Brax, but attempts were made.] Really? The eldest Doctor is a bit like that too. Is that an age thing? Am I going to become a hugger. [Good grief!
Mind you, better than the Collection alternative.]

[ At that she suddenly finds herself struggling to suppress a grin of amusement. Braxiatel? A hugger? She couldn't possible picture that with a straight face. ]
In any case... Trey --that was what she went by-- and I had worked together to reconstruct Gallifrey.
[ That had backfired in the end, when a miscalculation on her part had resulted in the deaths of a visiting ambassador when she had opened Gallifrey to the Temporal Powers. She explained this to Braxiatel and how that led to her, originally, being banished from home. It was not until she realized how so many things seemed amiss did she return to the Citadel.
From there things only went rom bad to worse as the transduction barrier was collapsing in on itself, threatening to destroy Gallifrey. ] --I tried to close the Eye of Harmony. I was the only one who could do it. But just as I had believed I was going to die, I found myself suddenly transported and back in what I would later come to learn as the one, true Gallifrey.
And it was all thanks to K9.

[ There was another pause as she realized what she was about to say. ] But... before I go any further, there is something you do need to know. It's about the Dogma Virus. Free Time wasn't responsible for the creation of it.
[His eyes went cold even if he kept going this time at this revelation.] ...They were suspects... generally I consider Daleks to be behind a lot of things regarding destruction.
Unfortunately, or perhaps fortunately, for me, I lost the lead before I could get to the truth.
Well, then I have saved you a whole lot of trouble in looking.
But we had not found this out until after another task force of them invaded Gallifrey through the Matrix. [ If there were ever a time she could be a Time Lord again and simply use contact to relay all of this to Braxiatel that way, it would be now. ]
Mhmm. To make a very long story short, the Daleks had an agent on the inside that was able to use the Matrix collapsing in as a ploy to get the Daleks through to Gallifrey.
[ She explained that the stability of the Matrix was failing and the quarantined Dogma victims were lose once more. In the end, with the bio data and a successful rebooting of the Matrix, they were not only able to restore the Matrix to full power, but cure the Time Lords of the Dogma Virus entirely when their bio data was rewritten with the back up. ]
But with all of Gallifrey unconscious while their bio data was updated, the Daleks were able to attempt yet another invasion on our home.
Edited (I am so sorry this is so weird to explain. and I terribly sorry for all the edits too!) Date: 2013-11-19 07:23 pm (UTC)
[On hearing about the agent, he concludes said agent is dead. Such is how the Daleks treat those who help them. Of course, when you involve yourself in becoming an ally to the Daleks, there are very few reasons why that would be excusable.]
[ She shook her head. ] Everyone woke up on their own.
Between Trey and an avatar of myself in the Matrix, we were able to trap the Daleks within the recreated Gallifrey within the Matrix. The attack group and my two selves ate now forever sealed within that Gallifrey, never to escape.
[ It was a clever bluff too, if she could say so herself. ] Both were projections created by the Matrix. As far as I know, that me of the future should be fine.
[ Again she found herself smiling a little. Admittedly, it was a relief to have someone else know what has been happening. ]
At least now Gallifrey is safe again. [ And her gaze followed to see where he was pointing to, spotting the shop, and nodding once in acknowledgment of it. ] Even if I'm no longer there, I can be grateful for at least that much.
